Nacra’s win Gold Coast Cat week
Nacra’s managed to fill the top 5 spots over the regatta.
With 27 boats, one of the Gold Coast’s biggest fleets has assembled at the Southport Yacht Club for the 4th year running of the event.
A large mix of classes competed on the waters of the “Broadwater” for the overall title. The weekend was incorporated into the South East Queensland Nacra Championships and Gold Cost Cat week. It was a great lead-up to The Great Race, a 37nm passage race from the Gold Coast to RQYS, Brisbane.
With all kinds of weather conditions over the week, and big variation in courses, from small windward-leeward ones to long races over the beautiful waters of the Broadwater, it was a great event for everyone.
The Nacra F18 “Wazza Who?”, sailed by Adam Beattie and Jamie Leitner became the winners of the Gold Coast Cat week, followed by Warren (Wazza) Guinea and Marja van Helden, also sailing the Nacra Infusion. Guy Orben and Joel Orben, sailing the Nacra 5.8 “Allante” finished the series third.
A social night on Saturday was held at the club with an Optimist filled with cold beverages, this lead to many sailors being out late into the evening.
A big thanks to Gold Coast Fastway for sponsoring the event once again!
